We’ve got a special reader letter today from Dabo who wants to know:
I am a nice guy and I dont want to seem rude or be reported for being rude to a lady.
But what is rude? Is it rude to tell a lady NO? Is it rude to tell a lady that you are not interested in her? Is it rude to say to a lady that she is not your type? Is it rude to tell a lady that she is out of line with her comments?

Ok, this seems like a pretty touchy subject– I mean, no one likes to hear NO. I know I sure don’t. But there are a few ways you can politely decline without being rude!
1) Be as polite about it as you can. Just because you disagree, or can’t do what they’re asking doesn’t mean it needs to turn into a four-letter word fest on either end.
2)Give a reason, besides just “No.” Like: ”Sorry, Shelly. I think you’re great, but you’re just not my type. I wish you the best in your search.” Or: “I’d like to chat, but I can’t chat tonight–I have plans.” Usually, this will help the other person understand why– instead of just thinking, “How rude and abrupt that was!”
3) If you don’t feel comfortable talking to someone and you feel they’re being abusive, you can report them (if they’re a CB Member) or block them.
4)DO NOT SEND MONEY TO ANYONE YOU HAVEN’T MET IN PERSON, NO MATTER HOW NICELY THEY ASK. This is almost always a scam and asking for money prohibited by the CB Terms of Use. You don’t have to feel bad about saying, “NO!” to a scammer. Report them to office@blossoms.com and we’ll take a look at the situation.
