Online Safety: Mugging Victim or Common Scam?

Scammers will use your sympathy to get you to send them money. Don't fall for it!
Aloha Friday, Readers!
Hope you’re all doing great and getting ready to have a wonderful weekend. BTW, did we mention CherryBlossoms.com is very active over the weekend? We hope you’ll join us online this Saturday and Sunday.
We just wanted to let you know the Consumerist.com has highlighted on one of the more common scams baddies use to separate you from your hard earned money: The Mugging Victim!
Curious? Keep Reading
You get a desperate email from a friend or acquaintance. It’s urgent. They say they were overseas and got mugged, getting robbed of their cellphone and all their cash and credit cards. Now they’re stranded and need your help. Could you please wire over $900 immediately?
Does that sound fishy to anyone else? You betcha.
Can this happen on Blossoms? We try our best to keep this kind of junk off our site, however some of it *DOES* go through.
What can you do?
First and foremost, DO NOT SEND MONEY TO ANYONE YOU HAVE NOT MET IN PERSON. (Blogger’s note: there’s people I know in person and I still won’t loan them any money. Keep that in mind, too.)
Educate yourself about a few of the more common scams- the sick grandmother, tourist visa, airfare, medical bills. Many of them will prey on your sympathy.
Trust your gut– if it feels scammy, or something’s not quite right, it probably isn’t. If you’re not sure, email office@blossoms.com for a second opinion.
DON’T SEND MONEY. We cannot stress this enough. Report anyone who has asked for money to office@blossoms.com- chances are, if they’re asking you, they’re asking other people too. We appreciate the help!
Ok, readers– now that you’re forewarned- don’t let these bad apples keep you from have an awesome Aloha Friday!
Best Wishes,
Blossoms Bloggers

Sir/Mam:
thanks for the blog….i’ve been a victim of that scam just recently and i meet him on CB..he told me that there was his package and i have to pay the tax upon delivery…but prior to delivery there was this courier (i don’t know if that courier was real) called me ssaying my package was being held at malaysia custom and i have to pay certain amount in dollars.. to make it short i’ve paid 3x and was asking for the 4th time but as i’ve been advised by my friends i stopped it. and that guy didn’t communicate since my 3rd payment…. i maybe stupid enough because i let it happened. But now i’m more cautious..and i’ve learned my lesson…what i did was asked the management to delete my previous account and i’ve created a new one.

hi I just want to leave same story same with erlinda the first on who gave comment,I’m about to be a victim. I also met a guy name Martin here in CB and he said that he will send me a package and the package was held by custom in malaysia and they asking me a charge but unfortunately I don’t have money and that Guy was so angry to me because I did not paid the said charge. So after that only to find out that Guy is a scammer. Thanks GOD I’m not a victim with him… so be careful there are lots of Bad guys too.
Yikes! We’re glad you’re being cautious!
Is he still on Blossoms? If so, let our staff know at: Office@blossoms.com
Remember, EVERYBODY: Do not send money to anyone you have not met in person!
He’s not yet anymore, He is a lazy and fake Human being as he all know is to believe people in all lies, He’s name is Martin Joe located at netherlands (SCREEN NAME for sure ) whether Girl or Boy be cautious… This is A moral lessons for everyone. Don’t believe them right away.. Even he/ she sending you an email or calling you by phone and text is not enough… Don’t be easily blind of all the sweet words. They are great deceivers in our planet. They are lazy to work. Be cautious that they will ask you to switch your attention from dating site to your personal email like yahoo and not on dating site so that they will try to manipulate on you especially MONEY matters. There are lots of communications and test the stranger whom you communicate.there are lots of syndicates for the sake to survive from anything. But always remember GOD is with us just ask wisdom and guidance in choosing a man or woman in the dating site and God will guide you.Same with me I found my American guy here and we met personal here in philippines and now we continous knowing each other and we’re both happy after all .

Thanks for you good advice. Two days ago I was contacted by a friend who said that she and her family had been mugged in Madrid, lost everything except her passports and needed cash to return to Philadelphia. My daughter alerted me immediately that she had read this site and said it was a scam. I replied asking if she really was in Madrid and the reply repeated the story with a number of changes. My friend is a teacher and the language used was primitive and incorrect. I was not going to send any money anyway but was concerned. I did not reply a second time and have heard nothing since. Thanks for your advice and alertness.
I just StumbledUpon this. Not bad. I’ll give it a thumbs up.
Good day, Im glad you give us a free registration here but i cant no longer open my account and it says ”

Kindly activate my profile again pls… i dont know why and what happen to this. I hope you will take an action with this positively soon. Thank you.
My Asian ex-gf is on Cherry Blossoms. I’m sure she’s up to no good, but I couldn’t work out what she was up to. I suspect she’s after a green card rather than money.
It’s best to be careful on ALL dating sites – I’ve even seen scammers on Japan Cupid.
NEVER send money to anyone you haven’t met. And use that IP address checking thing on Blossoms to make sure you don’t get scammed by one of the numerous African dating site scammers out there!
Good day,,,!
